I find myself wanting more and more of this game, I feel it will be a sad day when I complete this game, because there will be nothing more to play. Your mission starts in space on board the USS Darwin. To stand any chance at all against the BREED you will need an armoured attack tank. As soon as that behemoth is loaded you are in the cockpit of your landing craft and in control. The engines roar into life and you blast off, flying through the vastness of deep space. At last you see a familiar blue ball in front of you - your homeplanet. You steer the landing craft into a dive and enter the atmosphere. Welcome back to Earth - the blue planet. The first thing you see is the ocean. It looks absolutely stunning as you glide over it, with the sunlight glittering beautifully on the surface of the water.

But there is no time to admire the effect or enjoy the idyllic scenery. The BREED have spotted you on their radar and immediately send their airfighters to intercept you. You have to use the onboard cannons and fight back, hunting down the BREED jets one by one in best dog-fight tradition.

With the sky cleared you must eliminate the enemy turrets on the ground before you can land safely. Once you've touched down it's a change of pace as you get into your armoured attack tank and the ground-based part of your mission starts. You have to fight your way through the many enemy posts that are crawling with BREED...

Karlsruhe, October 23, 2003 - As already announced today by the Karlsruhe publisher CDV Software Entertainment AG, the much awaited action shooter BREED will not be appearing on store shelves this year. Shortly before the gold status, significant compatibility problems were discovered which could no longer be corrected in the remaining time before the last possible production start.

After careful consideration, CDV decided to take this unpopular step in order to guarantee the shooter's numerous fans a flawless program.

Dirk Weber , CDV Development Director:

"Significant problems surfaced during the obligatory compatibility test. The cause was the older graphic hardware which collides with the higher graphical level and effects. BREED utterly takes the new graphic technology to the limits. However, our customers with older hardware should, naturally, be able to enjoy the intense gameplay as much as anyone else. Based on this, the delay is fully justified, even if it's somewhat disappointing at first for all the fans and, especially, for those that are dedicated to the release of this title," reports Dirk Weber, CDV-Development Director, regrettably: "The extra time resulting from the compulsory delay will be used to prepare for a worldwide release of BREED on February 6, 2004."

To make sure that the wait isn't all too unbearable, CDV's Development Department is promising to deliver a real foretaste of the shooter soon. The multi-player demo (to be publicized this year) and another single-player demo (coming out around the end of the year) are already at the starting line.

The development of BREED did start years ago when Ed Scio and
Jason Gee had the idea to set up a sci-fi game putting in everything people
would expect from such. When Ed started to build up the core mercury
engine and Jason scribbled the first design-drafts, they suddenly realized
